BASICS
The airport is six miles (9 km) south of the center of Sydney. There is a traveler's information service in the arrivals hall open from 5:30 A.M. to 11 P.M. The airport's official Web site offers some helpful information, which includes:
TAXI
Taxis are available with metered fares. The fare to the center of Sydney is about 18-20 Australian dollars ($11-13). Travel time ranges from 15 to 30 minutes.
BUS
The bright green and gold State Transit Airport Express Bus leaves the airport for central Sydney every 20 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes in the evening until 10:55. Stops include Central Station and others along the way. From Central Station you can take a taxi to your final destination. The fare is 10 Australian dollars ($6) and travel time is about an hour.
The Kingsford Smith Bus Service and Sydney Airporter Hotel/Motel can deliver you and your luggage to selected hotels in the City, Kings Cross, Glebe, Double Bay and Darling Harbour. The fare is about 6 Australian dollars ($4). Check with your hotel to be sure the bus hours match your arrival hours, and that the bus serves your hotel.
TERMINAL TRANSFERS
Quantas and Ansett run shuttles between their domestic terminals for 3 Australian dollars ($1).
RENTAL CAR
Avis, Budget, Hertz, and Thrifty have counters at the airport.
